Step 4. Use pillows to elevate your foot while you are lying down.
Step 5. Wear a splint on your sprained foot.
Step 6. Protect your injured foot by wearing a stiff-soled shoes or shoe insert.
Step 7. Take an over the counter medications for pain with the approval of your doctor.

- Wear shoes that fit properly and is suited for your activity.
- Maintain good muscle strength and flexibility.
- Practice stability training such as balance exercises.
- Avoid wearing high-heeled shoes.
- Avoid playing sports or participating in activities for which you are not conditioned.
